This cabinetry was bought from stock at Home Depot and the countertop was actually removed directly from the kitchen upstairs when we replaced it with an HD laminate countertop. 

The sink also came down as well.

That backsplash was the oak plank flooring in the hallway upstairs that I took out and repurposed for a backsplash (and the basement bar!  Check it out here)

Craft Island With Storage Cubes

This is a storage shelf that I bought and then flanked a matching one on the other side with room for stools underneath. 

A craft island is VERY easy to do at home!  The key is to buy one cabinet height which is approximately 35″. 

These storage cube shelves on Amazon are only $49.  They are the perfect height.  Buy 2 and then lay something across the top for the counter. 

It could be an old door that you cut to size.  It could be old countertop that you cut down.  In my case, this island top was taken from the original kitchen upstairs and I refinished it with Rustoleum Countertop Transformations. 

If you simply want to paint a laminate countertop a different color then check out Rustoleum’s Tintable countertop coating here.  It is 36″ wide by 48″ deep.   

I have found this to be the perfect size for what I need.  All you need to do is just screw it so the bookshelves attach it and you’re done!

Old Wooden Tool Box

I found this amazing antique wooden toolbox along the side of the road with a whole bunch of other treasures that I incorporated into my craft room. 

This toolbox houses almost everything I need for stationary.  This rustic metal farmhouse storage caddy would also do the trick beautifully!

On the long side, I added wide-mouth mason jars to store all of my different types of pens and markers.

The other side then has the paper and more mason jars for scissors.  My kids love to sit at this table and use decorative edge scissors to cut paper up.

Vintage Wooden Shipping Crate

This was an old wooden crate used for shipping by the oil and gas company Texaco.  Again, I found it in that treasure pile along the side of the road. 

This houses all of my rags and staining socks.

I used a plastic animal cracker container to store the socks that I use for staining and then around it is a bunch of cut of tshirts for rags. 

This vintage bucket could be used for a lot of things, but it would also work well for craft rags!

Wooden Mail Sorter

I actually have no idea what this is to be honest. 

To look at it, one would guess it may have been an old mail sorter??  Again, I found it in that large pile marked “Free” by the side of the road. 

It had a bunch of compartments, looked old, and I grabbed it!  It actually has worked nicely for all of my hand sanding materials and paint materials. 

If anyone has any ideas as to what that is please comment at the end.  I would LOVE to know!

Milk Crate

This old milk crate has been used for several different things in my craft room.  Currently, it is holding all the paints samples for the different color schemes happening in #ourthirdfixerupper #frenchcountrycottage. 

It is helpful for me to see the big picture and rearrange the sticks if two colors don’t flow right, and I know they will be in adjoining rooms etc. 

I have also had wide-mouth mason jars in this as well that housed more markers, but then I needed it for the paint. 

I love when crayons, markers, or any writing utensil are organized in these old crates by color and can be set on a kid’s play table. 

This vintage-style wooden milk crate would be perfect for all those crayons!!!!

Spice Rack

This spice rack was on our wedding registry over 7 years ago, and I couldn’t stand to throw out all those cute little jars when I got tired of it taking up room in my kitchen. 

So it became a storage rack for pearls, decorative beads, twine, loose ribbons etc.  Way better than my turntable spice rack is these Wall Mounted Magnetic Spice Jars that come with blank chalk labels. 

The storage possibilities for these cuties are endless, and the best part, they don’t take up any counter space.

Changing Table

Changing tables make the perfect wrapping carts!  I added wheels to the legs and this guy just gets wheeled over to the island, and it makes for a perfect wrapping cart. 

This table already has 6 slide-out storage bins incorporated into it that would be perfect!!  If you notice below I use trash cans to store all my wrapping paper rolls, but this table has incorporated a hamper into it which would also be perfect for storing rolls of wrapping paper. 

Add these caster wheels to any changing table and voila a wrapping station!!

Trash Cans 

Trash cans are the perfect shape and size to hold wrapping paper.  Especially if you like to organize them.  Mine are basically Christmas and everything else!  Ha.

Vintage Sewing Table

This little table was a Craigslist find and was approximately 80 years old.  I refinished it and now my little Singer sits pretty on top collecting more dust than I would care to admit.  But hey it looks cute!!

Kids Art Desk

Don’t forget to add a spot for your kiddos!  I love involving my kids in what I am doing, and they are the reason this blog is called Hammers N Hugs. 

This little art desk has been the perfect spot in the craft room for coloring, painting, or generally anything to keep them away from the hot glue gun or paint.  Ha.
