Christmas Gift Ideas for a Baby Girl #1.
Lily was given this picnic basket for her one year birthday, and all three kids played with it for the rest of the night. It makes numerous sounds when you open the basket and has a set up for 2. Even Lily sat long enough to be served (although she was far more interested in opening and closing the basket). Thankfully the noises are not overly irritating as this is always a high selling point in our house.

Gracie got this when she was 2, and despite our many moves, we still have all the pieces (although the hippo’s tail has been forever stained with dried plaster as you can see above, ha!) Between being a toy with wheels and a puzzle with animals there are lots of playing options with the Melissa and Doug animal rescue truck.

Care for some tea? This simple little tea set has been a hit with each kid. The teapot sings, but the pouring noise when you tip it was always the favorite. We have enjoyed many hours of tea time with this very wallet-friendly Fisher Price Tea set.

Melissa and Doug make the best toys. This kitchen is no exception. Several years ago I researched dozens and dozens of play kitchens for kids, and this one came out on top. There are so many fun accessories, and perhaps more than any other set we have gotten, this Melissa and Doug Kitchen continues to provide hours and hours of play.

My kids have spent hours playing in this outdoor playhouse. Initially I had gotten it for the backyard and then when our neighbor gave us this swing set for free, I removed the top, painted the house to match the swing set and built a platform where a sand box was supposed to go and incorporated it into the swing set.

I hope my kids enjoy using a real mower one day as much as they have loved using this one!
Christmas Gift Ideas for a Baby Girl #7.
Between Gracie and Lily as babies, I have heard hours of unintelligible conversations on the cell phone from this purse. It makes fun noises when you open the purse as well as when you use the zipper. Lily especially loves taking the items out and then putting them back in. Rinse and repeat.
Christmas Gift Ideas for a Baby Girl #8.
Colorful, creative and sturdy which is true of Melissa and Doug as a company which is why you will see them time and time again on our lists. Lily loves it, although she does get quite angry when she can’t unlatch them (#angermanagement). You can also customize this board with a name here!

Each member of the family has their own water bottle. One, to stay hydrated and, two, because I got sick of having every cup in our house end up in the sink by the end of the day. As a cleaning tip, I remove the straw that comes with these water bottles because they get gross, and the kids just learn to tip the water bottle just as you would a cup. Easily comes apart to wash in the dishwasher (top shelf). They have lasted for several years of daily use.

I found this on Amazon before Gracie was born. Believe it or not, this was one of the very first things I bought before becoming a parent for the first time. Gracie was 4 months old and mesmerized by the animated colors and beautifully orchestrated music. We still put Classical Baby on at the end of the day to wind down before bed, and I am not sure who ends up more relaxed – the kids or the parents!
Merry Christmas and happy shopping!
