Expand your coffee bar and enjoy the silky smooth taste of the best espresso at home with the touch of a button! Read my detailed review of the Lattissima Plus Automatic Espresso Machine by Nespresso!
I love coffee. The smell. The taste. The warmth. The look. I am convinced that second to pivoting toilet paper holders the Keurig coffee maker has been one of the greatest inventions in my lifetime. We love our Keurig, but Zach and I decided to expand our home coffee bar to include an espresso machine.
I did tons of research on different automated espresso machines, but I am not a barista. The designs they can create in the crema seem nothing short of magical and also way out of my league. I wanted a machine that I could press a button and, voila, a delicious frothy treat.
When researching machines, I actually came across an article by Nespresso titled, “When it Comes to Taste – Crema Matters.” The article detailed a research study which discovered that the appearance of the crema directly affected the consumers’ perception of the quality and taste of the espresso – the better the crema, the better the espresso. They took this into account when designing their machines, resulting in a product that creates the best crema I have ever tasted. The silky smooth espresso that comes out of this compact powerhouse is better than Starbucks. Yup. I said it. Keep reading.

How to Make a Shot of Espresso
To turn the machine on press the button at the top of the control panel. The espresso buttons will flash until the water is hot. Here we are just making a shot of espresso without milk so the two buttons on the left will flash until hot.
Make sure the water reservoir is filled with filtered water. (Sweet little helping hand not included in the purchase of this machine . . . )
Choose a Nespresso capsule. Our favorite are the darker roasts – specifically Nespresso Roma (black) and Nespresso Arpeggio (purple). My evening treat is a decaffeinated Nespresso Arpeggio shot of espresso (marked with the red dot). You can buy these in bulk on Amazon!!
Open the silver handle, and insert the Nespresso capsule.
I like a dollop of milk with my shot of espresso.
Close the silver handle, set your espresso mug under the spout and press your desired size.
SO SO GOOD.
Your shot of espresso with Nespresso’s Lattissima Plus automatic espresso machine! AH this stuff is SOOOOO good!!!
Next let’s look at how to use the milk frother. A latte at the press of a button. I’m telling you – you will never go back.

How to Make a Latte
This time when using the machine you are going to use the milk reservoir and frother that comes with the machine.
Insert the milk reservoir (filled with milk of course) into the sliding door at the front of the machine.
Set your latte glass (glass jars in our home) under the espresso spout AND the milk spout.
Make sure your frothing wand is extended or else you will have a mess of hot milk.
When I went to insert the Nespresso capsule the silver handle wouldn’t close which meant the capsule drawer was full.
Dump in the trash, slide back in and continue!
You can change the froth setting to produce more or less froth. I keep it on the lowest setting and you will see just how much froth it creates! Also notice the clean button on the right? This allows you to clean the frothing wand with steam at the end before putting your milk reservoir back into the fridge. Awesome, awesome feature!
Let’s make a latte!
Also 2 latte sizes.
First it pours in the steamed milk, then kicks automatically into the espresso and . . .
Voila! A smooth, frothy delicious latte from Nespresso’s Lattisima Plus automatic espresso machine for yourself and your guests at the press of a button.
